Chances to win fun prizes and giveaways throughout the festival.
Shoutouts and credit on our social media outlets.
Access to all the photographs taken by us during the event.
Each business will be paired with a window artist to paint a window on the street/sidewalk side of the business. The idea is that people (and your friends, family, supporters, fans, etc) will be walking around downtown and enjoying the live art being created during the festival, and it will last as long as the business owner decides. It could be up for the weekend, or as long as two months, but it's up to the business.
Some businesses are signed up for just a border on the window, or just a door or small window, and some are signed up for full windows. As an artist, you can indicate your preference if you have one.
The stipend for a full window is $100
The stipend for a border, small window or door is $50
You can do more than one if you like.
You will be paid by the Festival of the Arts directly on the day of the event
Artists will meet with the assigned business owner or contact person a few weeks in advance (we will give you that into) about the design itself so the business and you can approve the design together. If you need to do this over the phone and email that is fine, too. The goal is for the business and artist to collaborate together to create something fun, memorable, and uniquely suited to that space.
We encourage you to plan a design that will:
Not take more than 4 -5 hours to paint (borders and small windows would be shorter times like 2-3 hours)
Be a design that is within your capability. The idea is to allow you to shine, and create a fun, happy, and artful experience for everyone.
Reflect the business in some way that would make someone want to stop and shop there.
Consider interactive elements that will want people to stop and take photos of the artwork, or take selfies in front of it. This is optional, but fun!
Be within reach. Artists are not required to stand on ladders or step stools. If you do, it is at your own risk, and we are recommending that you only paint what you can reasonably reach.
Be tasteful. This festival is about bringing creativity, wonder, and joy into our downtown spaces. Please avoid political messaging, offensive language, excessively dark or disturbing imagery, or anything that may make businesses or festival guests uncomfortable. We want this event to feel welcoming, inspiring, family-friendly, and fun for everyone attending.
Other things to consider:
Be prepared for weather and changing conditions. We plan to start painting Saturday morning at 10:30am with later that day and Sunday as backups.
While we hope for beautiful weather, artists should dress comfortably, bring water, sunscreen, and anything else needed to work outdoors for several hours.
You may bring your own paint brushes if you desire, but you wil need to use the paint we provide.
Please respect the businesses, sidewalks, and surrounding areas while working. We ask artists to clean up supplies and materials after painting is complete and leave the area in good condition.
Have fun with it! One of the best parts of this event is getting to create art in public, and bring energy and excitement into the downtown area. We want people smiling, taking photos, exploring local businesses, and enjoying the creative atmosphere together.
We will be coming by and photographing the artwork and progress, you will have access to these photos after the festival. Some may be used in future marketing.
Please feel free to tastefully add your signature to the bottom corner of the painting and your social media handles for your new fans to follow you and support your work! You can bring business cards if you like, and a tip jar if you feel comfortable with that.
